The WeZero Internal Carbon Fee tool is a free way to model an internal price on carbon. Set a fee per tonne of CO2e, choose the scopes it applies to and the tool forecasts the virtual fund the fee would generate each year, with optional annual increases. You can record the reduction projects the fund would pay for, with estimated carbon and financial savings and payback periods, and see yearly overrides where your actual emissions differ from forecast. The tool is free to use and accompanied by a public guide and Paul Bleasdale’s MSc dissertation on whether a fixed internal carbon fee could help the UK reach net zero by 2050.
